Last night I woke up around 3 a.m. because the dogs needed to go out. My wonderful husband got up and let them out, but I was awake and these days it’s not so easy to get back to sleep. I was laying on my left side trying to relax when the baby started moving a lot. It’s always fun to feel him move, but this time was different. This time there was a pattern to the way he was moving. It felt like little kicks in the same spot every few seconds.
Kind of like the kid was testing out his ball-step-change. If you know his dad, then you won’t be surprised by the baby’s rhythm or dance skills (wink, wink).
I couldn’t figure it out. The fluttering pattern continued on and off for quite awhile.
Then I realized what was going on. Little baby hiccups!
The biggest smile spread across my face. That little sign of life left me with such an indescribable sense of joy.
Even now, with my belly growing by the second and his movements getting stronger, I still forget I am pregnant sometimes. It’s so fun to notice these new things while we are patiently waiting for his arrival.
